Background:
During the Fall of 2007, the GHTA hosted a Strategic Planning Meeting for many of its members, where incorporating retailers into the association was discussed. The issue became a top priority for the Association, as present members recognized retailers as a significant industry segment and vital industry partner.
Retailer Membership Benefits:
Since the 2007 Strategic Planning Meeting, the GHTA has worked to create tangible benefits for potential retailer members, to ensure their success. The Association launched a retailer website, the Independent Retailer Resource Center (www.independentretailer.biz ), which showcases retail success stories and provides advice for marketing and branding. The GHTA is also co-sponsoring ICON Honors with AmericasMart, an initiative that recognizes the achievements of manufacturers, sales representatives and retailers. Finally, the GHTA supports technology that helps retailers run better businesses, and it allows for an open forum between all industry constituencies, including networking and educational opportunities at conferences, trade shows and more.
"This is a thrilling new venture," said Beth Lang, owner of Alexa's Angels and president of the GHTA. "With the addition of retailers as GHTA members, the GHTA becomes a true industry-wide association, allowing all industry participants to benefit from one another and to achieve success collectively."
